Biography:

Dr. Rorie received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UNC-Charlotte in 1999.  He is the founder and co-owner of Logisys, an information technology company based in Charlotte since 1994. Currently, he is conducting research in the lab of Dr. Xiuxia Du focusing on applying high performance computing to Bioinformatics.  This research is targeted toward developing: (1) a high-performance, parallel algorithm to identify cross-linked proteins from mass spectrometry data. This algorithm will help biologists explore protein-protein interactions and provide them with spatial constraints for the prediction and validation of protein structures using mass spectrometry. (2) a nutri-omics knowledge-discovery system. This system intends to integrate nutrition-related transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics data and provide a data analysis and visualization framework for understanding nutrient metabolism.

Dr. Rorie is interested in collaborating with biotechnology researchers to provide solutions to their data analysis needs.
