Catching Up...

A Busy Summer Comes to an End

It was a very busy August for all here in Kannpolis, but with hard work comes great rewards!
Equipment arrivals for the Core Lab continue.  August was filled with installation visits from such vendors as The Baker Co., Waters Corporation and Zeiss, Inc.

Over the past few weeks, we have installed mass spectrometers for the Proteomics and Metabolomics labs, a series of high-end microscopes for the Light Microscopy lab, DNA and RNA extraction and purification robots and a variety of biological safety cabinets and hoods. Within the next few weeks, platforms from Illumina, Affymetrix and Sequenom will be deployed as well. In addition, engineers from Bruker continue to work diligently to bring our NMR instruments on line. The DHMRI has now assumed the responsibility for cryogen filling/magnet cooling for all of these new NMRs.

Complete details on how to participate in this users group will be featured in next month's eNewsletter. __________________________________

A Message from
Dr. Steven Leath
President, DHMRI

It is a pleasure to welcome all of our partners and new readers to the DHMRI newsletter.  It is the interest of all of us at DHMRI to let you know what we are doing and what services will be available to you in the near future.

We now have a great team of DHMRI folks who are working hard to bring the Core Facilities on line.  We have been actively installing equipment and taking the steps to make us operational.  Much of our equipment has now arrived and many pieces are now installed and operational.

Dr. Sandy Williams and Dr. Steve Colman have been actively recruiting Interim Laboratory Directors and they will help us get many of the labs functional by the time of our grand opening on October 20th.  We certainly hope to see many of you there.  It is our mission to provide the highest quality innovative technical solutions to your science questions and we look forward to doing that over the next few months.
